I consider myself an afrofuturist. It appeals to me on a personal and spiritual level – the mix of sci-fi and indigenous sensibilities. Interpretations of a future through an afrocentric lens; this is the concept that drives much of my work.
Who doesn’t love a little Burlesque on a Holiday weekend?
I am so lucky to be able to do the things I love to do. At the beginning of 2014, I said I wanted to do more performing, and little did I know my ability to call things into being. Not only did I want a higher quantity of performances, but also the platforms to do work that is challenging, pieces that force me outside of my box, as well as doing these performances for/with great causes and organizations.
